The Italian Street Painting Festival held in San Rafael, CA has been an ongoing tradition with my lovely fellow artists and close friends that come by to help support and keep us hydrated. We are all connected through our old high school art teacher, Tia Starr Whitaker (Ms. Warner). This piece is a tribute to her as she prepares to move to Hawaii after retiring from teaching at San Rafael High School for the last 21 years. Thanks to the California Film Institute for sponsoring us with a square each year.
The original image is from a Hawaiin artist, Herb Kane, of Pele, the volcano goddess.
A-Team: Momo Cha, Madeline Garfolo, Sindy Smart, Trung Tran, Tia Whitaker
Special Thanks to Justine Brown, Mitzi Mathews, Serena Loomis, Ben Suvonnasupa, Matt Leyva-Wishnak, Athena Nguyen, and Noah Whitaker
